Student Government Planning Future Events

Junior Class President Maria Braga is looking to make a bigger impact with this year’s Student Council fundraisers and other events.

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, such campaigns have been few and far between in recent years. Still, Braga has high hopes for student turnout this upcoming school year.

“It feels like people are warming up to each other,” Braga said.

Observing that more and more people seem to be looking to get involved with their classmates, Braga and the BHS student government are getting a bit more ambitious with their planning this year.

So far, the ideas considered have included a hot chocolate and cookies sale in February and collaborations with What’s Brewin’ Cafe. Possibly even SkyZone.

Whatever the events happen to be, Braga said, the most important thing is “more people showing up.”

A particular matter of concern: prom. Class officials stressed that for prom to be successful, students have to show up to do what they can for fundraising.

“We can not raise money by ourselves,” said Junior Class Vice President Keira Day.
