The end of the school year comes with many emotions. From finals to seniors leaving to summer arriving, many big changes occur very quickly, creating a whirlwind of feelings.
“I’m happy that the school year is coming to an end, but I am also sad.” BHS Sophomore Alannah Foss said, “This year has been a roller coaster of emotions and although a lot of sad things have happened, a lot of good has also happened.”
Among the more emotionally difficult parts is saying goodbye to graduating classmates. Before the juniors can become seniors, there must be time to mourn the absence of their departing friends and having to go through the next school without them.
“I am most definitely going to miss this year’s seniors.” Foss said, “I looked up to a lot of them my freshmen year and so next year will be very different without them.”
On the brighter page, BHS students are gearing up for the start of summer, with days not filled with work and school, but beach days, time with friends, and new life milestones.
“This summer I can’t wait to get my license and spend more time with my friends.” Delia Gouker, Class of 2026, said. “The warmer weather will let us be outside so much more which is great because I love the beach!”
The idea of moving up a grade can be thrilling but simultaneously nerve-wracking. Whether you’re just finishing your first year, or almost done with all four, there is so many factors to consider for each grade as students move another year closer to graduation.
“ I am excited because I have some classes I want to take next year,” BHS Sophomore Dilly Abell said, “But I’m also nervous because people say junior year is very hard.”
As the year comes to a close with everyone preparing to go on to the next year, they look back on everything they had experienced the previous year, the friends they had made, the memories that came with that, and ahead to the coming summer and new school year. Regardless of how the year went for students, the call of summer beckons.
“I am happy that the year is finally over,” Sophomore J.J. Niemann said. “ I can take some time to relax and have fun.”
